I love “Mashups” - a remix of two or more songs that sometimes sound better than the originals. Here are a few of the best I’ve heard:
- Sugar Shop - 50 Cent “Candy Shop” blended with Archies “Sugar Sugar.” I like the combination of classic pop with new rap.
- Tripper Trouble - Beastie Boys “Triple Trouble” meets Beatles “Day Tripper.” One of many excellent tracks off of DJ BC’s Beastles album. An excellent mashup, unfortunately no longer available from his site.
- Smack my Orinoco Flow up - Enya “Orinoco Flow” remixed with Prodigy “Smack my B*tch up.” A crazy dance mix remixed by Lenlow, great to work out to.
- Sweet Home Country Grammar - Nelly “Country Grammar” with Lynyrd Skynyrd “Sweet Home Alabama”.  Another perfect blend of old and new. Remixed by DJ Mei-lwun.
- Never Feel Good - Cake “Never There” vs. Gorillaz “Feel Good Inc.” Two odd but incredibly complimentary songs, almost like a duet between the two lead singers. Remixed by Party Ben.
- Boulevard of Broken Songs - Green Day “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” vs. Oasis “Wonderwall” vs. Aerosmith “Dream On,” with some Travis mixed in for good measure. Another popular mashup by Party Ben.
- Elevator Doorbell - White Stripes “My Doorbell” with Outkast’s “Elevators” and Wings “Let ‘em in.”
- No One Takes Your Freedom - Scissor Sisters, Beatles, Aretha Franklin, George Michael. A symphony of mashups, courtesy of DJ Earworm.
More later, probably under the “Mashups” tag on this site.

Huzzah! I got the cameraphone feed working - the latest pictures from my camera are now displaying in the lower right corner of the screen. I added the tag < ?php get_flickrrss(); ?>to my sidebar.php file using Wordpress’ “Theme Editor,” and I was all set.
May try to refine this to display the subject and text of the picture as well as the thumbnail, but I think this is enough for now.

Almost there - I downloaded the latest Squible theme and tried changing it, but wasn’t pleased with the results. Apparently all I have to do is “Add < !--p get_flickrrss();----> somwhere in [my] templates” but I’m not sure exactly where.
Guess I need to get a better handle on the templates - try adding the code where I think it should go and seeing what happens. Hope to work on it more this week.

Today (tonight, really) I decided to set up a way to send cameraphone pics to this blog. Wordpress apparently doesn’t let you send photos directly to the blog, but they do have a bunch of cool plug-ins, including one that lets you display Flickr photos on your blog.
I went ahead and signed up for Flickr. I saw that you can send pics directly from your cameraphone to Flickr, but only if you have a selected phone. I have a Verizon Wireless LG phone, which isn’t on the list, but I also saw that you could upload photos to Flicker via e-mail.
I also have a Gmail account, which lets me set up autoforwarding to any other e-mail address. I logged into Gmail, set up a filter to auto-forward messages that came from my Verizon phone (e.g. 6135551234@vzwpix.com) to the e-mail address specified by Flickr (e.g. cool88photo@photo.flickr.com). I also set up a contact named “aaaaa Blog” on my phone, so that I could send cameraphone pics with a minimum of finger clicks.
I tested the whole thing out by taking a picture with my cameraphone and sending it along. Voila! You can check out the results at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jobriga/ - originally I just took the photo, but then added a Subject and Text on my phone.Â
Next step is to add the Flickr feed to my blog, but that’s probably tomorrow’s blog post.

I’ve decided to try and add one new tech feature to my site a day, to keep building the portfolio and keep things interesting. Tonight I’ll blog about my experiences adding a cameraphone feed to this site.
